She married Dwight Oetzel on Aug. 17, 1947. He preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 2010.They farmed in the Prophetstown area throughout their married life.She joined the Methodist Church in October 1947, where she was active in many organizations over the years.She was secretary of the Whiteside County Heart Association for several years, and worked with the ladies of the Red Meat Connection, promoting red meat in the county and throughout the state. She also was involved in many community activities and was a supporter of Winning Wheels.Lois and Dwight were the parents of four daughters, Anita Oetzel of Prophetstown, Nina (Dan, deceased) Roth of Walla Walla, Wash., Rhonda (Vic) Dunes of Mesa, Ariz., and Glenna (David) Spotts of Racine, Wis. They had four grandchildren, Jeremy (Megan) Roth, Erica (Nick) Genereux, Christie (Michael) Bartzen and Andrew Spotts, and three great-grandchildren, Maggie Roth and Jacob and Tyler Bartzen. She is also survived by her brother, Wilbur (Jean) Egert, and sisters, Lavona Oncken and Phyllis (Nelson) Tabor.A gathering of family and friends will be from 1 to 2 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 2 p.m., Friday at Prophetstown United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Wayne Wachholz officiating.
