Birth: Aug. 22, 1911 Odin Barton County Kansas, USA Death: Oct. 14, 2007 Ellinwood Barton County Kansas, USA ODIN — Mary T. Hekele, 96, died Oct. 14 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born Aug. 22, 1911, in Odin, she was the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Seus) Hekele. A lifetime resident of Odin, she was the head cook for the Odin school system for 19 years, retiring when the school closed. She loved to play bingo and cards with her family and also loved to cook and sew. Ms. Hekele was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Altar Society, both of Odin. Survivors include a brother, Joseph Hekele of Odin; two sisters, Ruth Corbett of Ellinwood and Rose Schwartz of Hoisington; and numerou nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers, John, Martin, Arthur, Frank and Alex Hekele; and a sister, Tillie Springer. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Dwight Birket officiating.
