- [S927] Obituary.
Bill Hauter, age 84, of Morenci died Aug. 9, 2015, at his home.
He was born April 8, 1931, in West Unity, Ohio, to Charles E. and Ocie (Brown) Hauter. He married Cara Lou Whittecar on Oct. 23, 1948, and she survives.
Bill started school at the Chesterfield School in Chesterfield Township, Fulton County, Ohio, where he made many life-long friends including his wife. From Chesterfield, he attended the one-room school in Medina and finally Hudson High School. It was in Medina that he often mentioned as being the best place he could ever imagine to grow up. One small community, one big family and every day a new adventure. Bill was known to be quick witted and always one to make a clever statement that made everyone laugh, which usually made him the center of whatever is going on around him. Very well read, with a good understanding of world politics, the science behind new technologies and alternative medicines. Fifty years ago he received his private pilot's license.
Bill was a lifetime farmer and has worked as an artificial inseminator, a milk tester, a lime spreader, and a farm real estate salesman, never straying very far from agriculture.
Bill is survived by a son, Ron (Jan) Hauter of Hudson; a daughter, Linda (David) Arno of Grand Rapids, Ohio; a sister, Lucy Doris Moore of Upland, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Hauter of Florida; three grandchildren, David Hauter, Ryan Arno and Kimberly Bazen; and six great-grandchildren, Jacob and Katarina Hauter, Christopher and Bradley Arno and Tyler and Hannah Bazen.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert W. and Lowell C. Hauter; two sisters, Dorothy I. Grubbs and Eleanor McCarty; and two brothers-in-law, George McCarty and Garold Grubbs.
A funeral service for Bill will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci. Burial will be in Medina Cemetery. There will be a vistation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
