  [S927] Obituary. Hildegard Landeis, 89, of Faulkton, SD and formerly of Mandan, ND, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Faulkton Area Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 8, 2016, at Church of St. Joseph, Mandan, ND with Fr. Shane Campbell officiating. Burial followed in the ND Veteran Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 7, 2016, with a 7:00 p.m. wake service, all at the church. Hildegard Leingang was born August 8, 1926 at St. Anthony, ND to Peter and Rose (Leingang) Leingang. She was one of seven children. Hildegard attended a small country school called Little Heart thru the 8th grade. At the age of 20, she was united in marriage to Leo Landeis. They were married November 12, 1946 at St. Anthony Catholic Church and made their home east of Selfridge, ND before moving to Walker, SD where Leo farmed. In the mid 1950’s they moved to Mandan, ND. In 2012 Leo and Hildegard moved to Faulkton, SD to be with their daughter Sharon. During Hildegard’s first years of marriage she worked on the farm and then later for Holly’s Cleaners in Mandan. In her spare time she enjoyed reading the paper or magazines. In her older years she spent lots of time watching birds and visiting with friends. Hildegard’s life will be cherished by her daughter, Sharon Holmes of Faulkton; four grandchildren: Jason (Danielle) Landeis of Mandan, ND, Justin Landeis of Phoenix, AZ, Brian Peterman (Diego Rodriguez-Sanchez) of Britton, SD and Bradley Peterman of Huron; one great grandson, David Jason Landeis of Mandan, ND; one brother, Leo (Gladys) Leingang of Mandan, ND; two brothers-in-law: Ray Miller of Bismarck, ND and Harry Zander of Fargo, ND; and one daughter in-law, Denise Landeis of Mandan, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo; one son David; and five siblings: Bill Leingang, Leona Schmidt, Anna Braun, Lillian Miller and Shirley Zander. Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Hildegard’s arrangements.
