Bio: Caroline "Carol" Knoll, 72, Mandan, died Sept. 13, 2007, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Albert Leary officiating. Interment will follow the services in Mandan Union Cemetery.Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a parish vigil at 7 p.m. There will be no visitation at the church Monday.Carol was born Dec. 18, 1934, in Mandan, the daughter of Emil and Julia (Stein) Zander. She was raised and educated in the St. Vincent's area. On July 7, 1953, she married Anton "Tony" Knoll at St. Vincent's Church, Crown Butte.Carol will be remembered as an outstanding seamstress with a flare for fashions. She altered thousands of wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses. Carol had a gift for making every bride look and feel beautiful, calling them "her girls." Her early sewing days were spent making clothes for her family and friends, which included coats, uniforms and other outfits. She was passionate about her work and a perfectionist to every detail. She enjoyed walking (or running, as it was to some) with her walking family at the mall. She also enjoyed dancing, playing cards, cooking and waiting on everyone. Her family meant a lot to her and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved people and had the ultimate gift of talking. Even at the very end, she lifted and brightened everyone's spirits.Carol is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dale (Donna), Myrtle Point, Ore., and Allen (Connie), Mandan; three daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine (Doug) Tobler, Denver, and Becky (Dan) Ennen and Renee (Kevin) Schmidt, both of Bismarck; 11 grandchildren, Kala (Josh) Tobler, Brittany, Dustin, Elisa and David Knoll, Sydney and Faryn Tobler, Nicole and Nathan Ennen and Aaron and Tyler Schmidt; and her very special friend, Ben Weigel, and his son, Bernie. She is also survived by four sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillian (Jack) Kautzman, Mandan, Doris (Curtis) Dachtler, Davis, Calif., Diana (Gary) Handley, Grandbury, Texas, and Linda (Dick) Broen, Bemidji, Minn.; and four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Fred (Dorothy) and Gary (Flo), both of Bismarck, Lloyd, Fargo, Manuel, Mandan, and Frances Zander, Mandan.Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Donald and Carl, who was her twin.Memorials are preferred and may be directed to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Ave., fifth floor, Norwalk, Conn., 06851.Go to www.weigelfuneral.com to sign the guest book and view flower and tribute photos.Bismarck Tribune September 15, 2007
