Funeral Thursday For David Berreth At Lutheran Church
David Berreth, 77, and a resident of Miller since 1951, died in Memorial
hospital shortly before noon Sunday, June 21. Berreth had been admitted to the
hospital only a week before his death, which occurred quite suddenly,
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Trinity
Lutheran Church, of which he was a member. Rev. Harry Ackerman will officiate
at the rites and burial will be in the G. A. R. cemetery,.
Grandsons of the deceased will be pallbearers. They were Richard Berreth, Larry
Berreth, Robert Namanny, Bernie Kopecky, Donald Brick and DeWayne Berreth.
Berreth was born January 16, 1882, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Berreth of
Menno. He lived in Turner county until his marriage to Margaret Sherer on
January 1, 1905, when they moved to North Dakota and homesteaded. Later they
farmed in various places in the state. He retired from his last farm at Wetonka
in 1951, and moved to Miller.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Ed Brick (Ida), Aberdeen, Mrs.
Harry Nanmanny (Ella), Miller, Mrs. Reuben Schuler (Violet), Bismarck, N. D.,
four sons, Emanuel, Wetonka, Albert, Leola, Edwin, Aberdeen, and Reinhold,
Miller. There are also two brothers, Phillip, Sanders, Idaho and Henry, Martin,
S.D.,, and three sisters, Emma, Ellendale, N. D., Katie, Niobrara, Nebr., and
Lea Menno; forty grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. His parents, four
brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
