Birth: Apr. 23, 1919 Hurnville Clay County Texas, USA Death: May 16, 2013 Wichita Falls Wichita County Texas, USA Irene Marie Morton, 94, of Wichita Falls, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013 in the chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Leonard, officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls. Irene was born April 23, 1919 in Hurnville, Texas to the late August and Mary (Moser) Hoeffner. She retired from Hirschi High School after 17 years where she worked in the Library. She was a member of Eden Hills Baptist Church where she was an active member, and played the piano. She was also a member of the Wichita Wagon R.V. Club, and the Stamp Club. She enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, and loved her dogs. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Morton in 1994; two sons, Howard Eugene Morton, and Billy Wayne Morton; and two brothers, Leon Hoeffner, and Arthur Hoeffner. She is survived by her daughter, Jo Lynn Welborn and husband Bill of Richardson; two sisters, Lydia Owen, and Betty Nevins both of Wichita Falls; four grandchildren, James Farrar, Kimber Hopkins, Marla Morton Cruz, and Carly Welborn; eight great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013 at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.
