Katharina HOLZWARTH born 16 July 1862 probably in Johannestal, Beresan, Odessa, South Russia was the daughter of Philipp HOLZWARTH and Elisabetha EISSINGER.
Katharina at the age of 11 with her parents and siblings; Magdalena, Elisabeth, Johann and Karolina, immigrated to America via the Port of Hamburg, Germany aboard the SS "Westphalia" and arrived at the Port of New York, New York on the 23 July 1873.
Katharina married John H METTLER in 1880 in Menno, Hutchinson County, Dakota Territory. The couple had no children.

Menno Resident Dies at Age 97 –
MENNO, S.D. – Mrs Katharina Mettler, a pioneer resident of the Menno vicinity, died at her home Tuesday at the age of 97.
Funeral services were held Friday at the Salem Reformed Church.
Mrs. Mettler was born July 16, 1862 in South Russia and came to this country at the age of 11. She married John H. Mettler Dec. 2, 1880. They lived on a farm near here until 1902 when they moved into town and her husband entered the implement and banking business. He also served as a state representative.
Her survivors include one sister, Mrs. Gottlieb Lang, Freeman. Burial was in the Menno Cemetery.
