Birth: Aug. 10, 1934 Ashley McIntosh County North Dakota, USA Death: Oct. 16, 2014 Bismarck Burleigh County North Dakota, USA Darlene Mund, 80, Bismarck, died October 16, 2014 at a Sanford Health, Bismarck. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 21, at House of Prayer Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Joel Samuelson officiating. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Darlene Janet Klipfel was born August 10, 1934 to Fred and Lydia (Bender) Klipfel in Ashley, ND. She was raised and educated in Ashley, graduating from Ashley High School in 1952. She then attended Ellendale State College for teaching. Darlene married ElRoy Mund September 27, 1953 in Ashley, ND. They lived in Mandan for 45 years where they raised their family. Darlene worked as an Administrative Secretary for the State Water Commission, retiring after twenty-one years of service. They moved to Bismarck in 2003. Darlene was a collector by nature. She enjoyed collecting teapots, Fenton vases, Seraphim angels and Byrdes crystal. Another favorite pastime was watching movies. Her greatest pleasure, though, was her grandchildren. Her greatest source of comfort was church services held at the House of Prayer Lutheran Church, where she was a member. She is survived by her children, Kristen Mund; Kerry (Colette) Mund and their children, Monica and Marisa Mund; and Kyle Mund (Kazy) and their children, Breanna and Kaden Mund, all of Bismarck; sisters, Bernice Gehring and Getrtrude (Ervin) Schumacher. Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, ElRoy; her parents; brother, Raymond and sisters, Deloris Klipfel, Erna Scherle and Betty Finger; along with her mother and father-in-law, Edwin and Adina Mund; sisters-in-law, Huldina Klipfel, and Adline Delzer; brothers-in-law, Art Gehring, Willie Delzer and Ruben Scherle.
