CENTER -- John Haag, 80, Center, died May 3, 2003, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. CDT Wednesday at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Center, with the Rev. Roger A. Synek officiating. Burial will be in St. Martin's Catholic Cemetery, Center.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan. Visitation will continue from 4 to 8 p.m. CDT Tuesday at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Center, where a parish vigil will begin at 7 p.m. CDT. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the services at the church.
John was born Sept. 21, 1922, in Center, the son of Conrad and Margaret (Mosbrucker) Haag. On Nov. 8, 1943, John married Beata Hatzenbihler. He farmed for 35 years, worked construction for six, and also owned and operated Haags Redi Mix and Haags Trucking, until his retirement in 1993. John liked to fish and do woodworking. His garden and his evergreens were his pride and joy.
John was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special to him. John's wife, Beata, was his lifelong companion.
Grateful for having shared John's life are his wife of 59 years, Beata; his two daughters and sons-in-law, Vivian and Keith Dahl and Marlene and Steve Fricke, all of Center; four sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Sharon, Donald and Arlene, all of Center, Dale and Susan, New Salem, and Conrad and Melva, Center; 20 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Pius Pfleger, Center; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Edward and Thelma Haag, Great Falls, Mont., and Liz Haag, Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jake; and two sisters, Anna Mantz and Margie McLane.
