Margaret Landers
Margaret “Marge” Landers, 86, Mandan, died Aug. 22, 2012, at Mandan Care Center. Services were held Monday, Aug. 27, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan. The Rev. Shane Campbell officiated. Burial was at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Marge was born April 15, 1926, south of Center, to Martin and Monica (Meyer) Mosbrucker Sr. She was raised and educated in the Center area. Marge married Laurence Engelman on June 15, 1944, in Center. The couple had five children, Jerald, Kenneth, Neal, Iris, and Harley.
She loved to garden and bake. Her gardens were the envy of the neighborhood, particularly her roses, which she took great pride in. Her “green thumb” was well known as she could bring any flower to a full bloom and make any vegetable garden a miniature farm.
Holidays found her baking treats, often enough to feed a small army. Always delicious, she loved to share them with friends and family.
She treasured the time spent with her two sisters, Florentine Hatzenbuehler and Bernice Himmelspach, and the many others who stopped to visit with her. A special treat were the quick trips she took with Florentine and Bernice to the casino.
She is survived by one daughter, Iris (Brian) Torvik of Benbrook, Texas; four sons, Jerald (Linda) Engelman, Detroit Lakes, Minn., Kenneth Engelman, Bismarck, Neal (Sue) Engelman, Rochester, Minn.; Harley (Rebecca) Engelman, Bismarck; 10 grandchildren, Nikki Engelman, Buxton, Nick (Kari) Engelman, Morrison, Colo. Andrew Engelman, Bismarck, Ryan (Holly) Engelman, Fort Collins, Colo. Kara (Jeremiah) Torvik-Smith, Benbrook, Texas, Peter (Kalista) Engelman, Grand Rapids, Mich., Joshua (Shawna) Torvik, Fate, Texas, Kate Engelman, Lakeville, Minn., John Engelman, Richfield, Minn., and Amanda Engelman, San Francisco, Calif.; and four great-grandchildren, Kingston Torvik, Jack Engelman, Evan and Addison Engelman.
Marge was also survived by two sisters, Florentine Hatzenbuehler and Bernice Himmelspach, both of Mandan; and four sisters-in-law, Clara, Catherine, Beatrice, and Kathleen Mosbrucker, all of Mandan.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Monica (Meyer) Mosbrucker Sr.; one sister and brother-in-law, Maggie and John Kautzman; six brothers and two sisters-in-law, Floyd and Cecelia, John and Josephine, and Nick, Ben, Peter and Ray Mosbrucker.
Memorials are preferred to the Tom and Frances Leach Kidney Dialysis Center.
