Birth: Aug. 21, 1926 Glasford Peoria County Illinois, USA Death: May 2, 2005 Pekin Tazewell County Illinois, USA MAPLETON - Alta Norton Taets, 78, of Mapleton died at 11:40 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2005, at Pekin Hospital in Pekin. Born Aug. 21, 1926, in Glasford to Fred L. Jr. and Della M. Lumbard Gohde, she married Leonard L. Norton on April 19, 1942, in Peoria. He died March 27, 1994, in Pekin. She later married Lawrence C. Taets on June 1, 1996, in Kingston Mines. He died Dec. 22, 2003, in Mapleton. She also was preceded in death by one son, Larry Norton, on April 21, 1964; and one brother. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. She worked at a U.S. government ammunition plant in East Peoria during World War II. She later worked at ABC Washer Manufacturing Co. and then at a telephone company in Pekin. She also worked as a supervisor at Pekin Insurance Co. She was a member of Kingston Mines United Methodist Church in Kingston Mines, where services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. James Reed will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church. Burial will be in Kingston Mines Cemetery in Kingston Mines. Woolsey Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
