Marie Guthmiller
Funeral services for Marie M. Guthmiller age 83 of Mobridge will be 1:00 PM Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mobridge. There will be visitation Friday starting at 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home. Marie passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Mobridge Regional Hospital.
Marie Guthmiller was born to Jacob and Dora (Dietrich) Sefried on January 27, 1931. Marie was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and was a life long member there. She sang in the Choir for 31 years and also belonged to the Ladies Aid. Marie was the youngest of five children and lived in Mobridge her entire life. She attended Lincoln, Beadle and Mobridge High School. Marie loved music and when she was a small child going to Lincoln she was in the rhythm band and appeared in operettas. When she entered 8th grade she joined the band, mixed chorus and glee club. These were very enjoyable years for her. The band played at every football and basketball game where they would entertain during half time. She also belonged to the summer band and as part of the boosters for the fourth of July they would travel to towns both east and west river. The band also marched in all the parades and played for the rodeo performances.
Marie married Irvin Guthmiller in 1950 and they were later divorced. The had 5 children; Terry Guthmiller, Anne (Brent) Nye, Jeff (Donette) Guthmiller, Cindy Guthmiller, Dean (Cyndee) Guthmiller.
Marie loved to bake and share her treats with everyone. She also enjoyed attending all the music and athletic events her children and grandchildren participated in. Marie received her little pug dog for her birthday and they became loving companions. Brandy loved to ride in the car and she went everywhere with Marie.
Marie is survived by her children; Terry Guthmiller of Kent, Washington, Anne (Brent) Nye of Academy, SD, Jeff (Donette) Guthmiller of Mobridge, SD, Cindy Guthmiller of Casper, WY and Dean (Cyndee) Guthmiller of Casper, WY. Her Grandchildren; Tali (Eric) Vander Stouwe of Canton, SD, Sara Gustad of Sioux Falls, SD, Amanda Guthmiller of North Dakota, Josh (Mindy) Guthmiller of Spearfish, SD, Spencer (Emily) Guthmiller of Casper, WY, Zachery Guthmiller of Casper, WY, Colton Guthmiller of Lemmon, SD, Travis Guthmiller of Kent, Washington, great grandchildren; Ella Vander Stouwe, Jacob Vander Stouwe, Boden Vander Stouwe, Jaden Guthmiller, Sofie Guthmiller, Trevor Guthmiller.
Marie was preceded in death by her father, mother and two sisters.
