  [S927] Obituary. NEW SALEM -- Fredrick "Fritz" Doll, 73, New Salem, died May 6, 2001, in his home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Thursday at St. Pius V Catholic Church, New Salem, with the Rev. David Zimmer officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan at 2 p.m. CDT Thursday. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Wednesday at the church where a St. Anthony Verein rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a parish vigil. Fredrick was born Dec. 11, 1927, at New Salem, the son of Jack and Helen (Schaner) Doll. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1949, and married Eva Stein on Oct. 12, 1948. They farmed five miles north of Sweet Briar until 1975, when they moved into New Salem. Fritz worked for D & K Farm Equipment for six months and then, for Jim Kautzman Trucking for 10 years. For the last few years, he had helped a number of local farmers. He served for six years as a trustee on the building committee for St. Pius Church. He loved farming, spending time with his grandchildren and fishing. Fritz is survived by his wife, Eva; his mother, Helen Doll, New Salem; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Pat and Kathy, Wayne and Joy, all of New Salem, Jeff and Karen, Tigard, Ore., and Randy and his fiance, Tammy Skallet, both of Grand Forks; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Lance Sabot, and Sylvia and Keith Bayley, all of Bismarck; 11 grandchildren, Chad Doll, Stacey Jepsen and her husband, Marty, Chase Doll, Nicole Christian and her husband, Alan, Melissa Doll and her fiance, Nathan Davis, Troy, Billy, Eric and Andy Sabot, and Sydney and Logan Bayley; one great-grandson, Dawson Nagel; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Conrad and Rose Doll, and George J. Doll, all of New Salem; one sister and brother-in-law, Agnes and Marvin Rud, Devils Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
