Full Obituary: A Funeral Mass for Maryann Fichter, 98, of Dickinson, will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Patrick Schumacher celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Josephs Cemetery in Dickinson. Visitation for Maryann will be 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a Rosary and Vigil service being held at 7:00 p.m. Maryann passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012 at her home in Dickinson, surrounded by her family. Maryann Doll was born September 6, 1914 in Crown Butte, ND, the daughter of Conrad and Catherine (Kautzman) Doll. She grew up and attended school at Crown Butte and Judson country schools. On September 25, 1933, Maryann was united in marriage to Valentine Fichter at New Salem. To this union, Jacob, Annamary, Raymond, Angeline, Rosemary and Ida were born. Valentine and Maryann raised their family on the farm north of Gladstone. In her younger years, she made all of the childrens clothes and took care of a large garden. Maryann loved flowers and she worked hard alongside her husband and children with the farming, which included shocking and milking. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting afghans, and building miniature churches and wishing wells that were decorated with buttons. Maryann did all things well. She especially loved her children and her siblings, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It was always very important to her that everyone always got along. Maryann was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Maryann is survived by her sons, Jacob (Dee) Fichter of Las Vegas, NV and Raymond (Marie) Fichter of Dickinson; daughters, Annamary (Don) Muth of Gladstone, Angeline Cranston of Woodland, WA, Rosemary (Jim) Hauff of Lehr, ND, and Ida (Daniel) Theis of Lincoln, MT; 17 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Valentine; sisters, Rose, Helen, Scholastica, Mathilda, Margaret, Wilhelmina, Scholastica, and Bertha; brothers, Joseph, Emmanual, Jacob, John, and Michael.
