Read Hauswald, 96, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany. Born Nov. 25, 1917, in New Albany, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lillian Hicks Read. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon, Ind. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Frank Hauswald; four brothers, Arthur (Sonny), Frank, Gerald and Robert Read; and a sister, Mildred Read. Survivors include three sons, Thomas A. Hauswald and C. Steven Hauswald, both of Corydon, and Phillip Michael Hauswald of Floral Park, N.Y.; three daughters, Mary McKulick and Julie Crone, both of New Albany, and Joanie Schmidt of Corydon; two sisters, Catherine Tinius of New Albany and Barbara Julius of Jeffersonville; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation: Tuesday, Aug. 12, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Aug. 13, after noon at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon. Funeral Mass: Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon with burial in the church cemetery. Officiant: Father Rob Hankee.
