Birth: Apr. 2, 1924 Green Valley Tazewell County Illinois, USA Death: Dec. 26, 2000 Bloomington McLean County Illinois, USA NORMAL - Helen Jane Calhoun , 76, of 18 C St., Northmeadow Village died at 9:01 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at BroMenn Regional Medical Center. Born April 2, 1924, in Green Valley to Ernest and Lydia Roudenbush Meador, she married Warren E. ''Tink'' Calhoun on Sept. 7, 1947, in Normal. He died Dec. 2, 1993, in Bloomington. She also was preceded in death by one brother, one half sister and one infant grandson. Surviving are three sons, Stephen (and Sandy) of Tolono, Philip (and Salle) of Deer Creek and David (and Becky) of Tremont; five daughters, Beverly (and E. ''Buzz'') Sawyer and Alice (and Ed) Gentry, both of LeRoy, Jean (and Gary) Schmidt of Heyworth, Pat (and Butch) Hart of Farmer City, and Marcia (and Frank) Jandura of Normal; 22 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (and Sandy) Meador of Lincoln; and one sister, Ruth Scott of Rantoul. She worked for State Farm Insurance Co. in Bloomington, for Illinois State University in Normal, and then for Country Companies Insurance Co. in Bloomington, retiring in 1993. She also farmed with her husband near Farmer City for several years. She was a former Cub Scout den mother in Farmer City and a former member of the LeRoy Hobby Club. She was a member of the 1962 Farmer City Sesquicentennial Committee, supported McLean County 4H since the 1950s and was superintendent for the McLean County Fair Dog Show for 33 years. She was a founding member of Victory Christian Center in Farmer City. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Woolsey Funeral Home in Delavan. The Rev. Brad Dawson will officiate. Visitation will from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan. Memorials may be made to the McLean County 4H Extension Foundation.
