Birth: Jan. 11, 1916 Logan County North Dakota, USA Death: Dec. 4, 2000 Napoleon Logan County North Dakota, USA Willie Lachenmeier was born on Jan. 11, 1916, four miles northeast of Napoleon, the son of August and Christina (Becker) Lachenmeier. He was raised on the family farm and attended rural Logan County schools. Willie married Helen Bender on Jan. 24, 1941 at Napoleon. They farmed 12 miles northeast of Napoleon until September of 1952, when they moved to Napoleon due to ill health. Willie worked in the grain elevator for nine years, and in the fall and winter months hauled coal. He worked for three years at the Napoleon Super Valu and three years for Wolf's Farm Equipment at Kintyre. Willie also did a lot of painting and carpentry which he loved, and tilled gardens which was his pride. He also enjoyed doing the janitorial work in the Salem United Methodist Church, working at the recycling center, and working in his home doing cleaning, cooking and baking. Willie enjoyed visiting with people wherever he went, and took great pride in his grandchildren by baking them goodies whenever they came to visit. Willie was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church, was a board member of the Napoleon Care Center, and served on various committees for the church.
