Raphael Stockert, 94, Dickinson, died Monday March 6, 1995. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday March 10, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dickinson with the Rev. George Dukart officiating. Special music will be provided by Mary Agostini. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Mischel-Olson Chapel with a rosary being said at 7 p.m. Visitation continues Friday from 8 a.m. to noon at Mischel-Olson Chapel.
Raphael Stockert, a son of Christian and Rose (Wandler) Stockert, was born June 28, 1900 in Russia. He moved with his parents to the United States at the age of 1. He attended Slope County Hume Township Country School. On Nov 26, 1924, he married Eleanora Frank at St. Pius Catholic Church, Schefield. They farmed and ranched southwest of New England in Slope County until 1958 when they retired and moved to Dickinson. He then worked as a carpenter for Mike Kaufman for a few years. He was a member of St. Pius Verein and Retired and Seniors Volunteer program. His hobbies included woodworking, gardening and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanora; three sons, Vandaline (Rose) of Steele, Henry (Leona) of Brainerd, MN, Robert (Josie) of Dickinson; three daughters, Magdaline (Anton) Langer of Spearfish, SD, Clementine (Lawrence) Urlacher of New England, Agnes (Fred) Reichert of Rapid City, SD; 28 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, six brothers and two sisters.
