ROLETTE — Terry Goehring, 63, Rolette, died June 27, 2012, at a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Rolette. Burial will be in Rolette City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau.
Terry Goehring, a son of Ernest and Violet (Fischer) Goehring, was born Feb. 22, 1949, at Eureka, S.D. He was raised at Long Lake, S.D., on the North Dakota and South Dakota border. Terry attended school in Ashley. After his graduation, he attended college and received his bachelor of science degree at Valley City State College. He moved to Carrington and taught school for a few years.
On Oct. 28, 1972, he was married to Patricia Hovorka at Carrington. After their marriage, they moved to Grand Forks, where he worked at the Grand Forks Herald. Terry returned to school during the summers and received a degree in administration. They then moved to Grafton in the late ’70s, where he worked as assistant administrator at the Grafton hospital. In 1980, they moved to Rolette. Terry worked for a time at the Rolette hospital as the assistant administrator. On Oct. 1 1988, he became licensed as a nursing home administrator in North Dakota. In 1991, he became the administrator at the Bottineau Good Samaritan Center.
He was the vice chair of the NDLTCA Board from 1999-2001. Terry was the Region I director of the NDLTCA Board from 1998-99 and from 2000-01, he was the board contact for the Legislative Committee and PAC Committee. He served as chair of the NDLTCA Convention and Professional Development committee from 2009-12. Terry was also the chair of the NDLTCA Board from 2002-05. He was a member of the Metigoshe Lions Club. Terry was a member of the Ebenezer Lutheran Church of Rolette, where he was also a deacon and an elder of the church.
Terry enjoyed playing his guitar. He loved to drive around with his pal, Molly, and his grandson, Noah. Terry and Noah spent many special times together. Their biggest accomplishment was building a fort in the backyard.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia, Rolette; a daughter, Theresa Goehring, Bismarck; a grandson, Noah Sabo, Bismarck; a brother, Tom Goehring and his wife, Denise, Fort Collins, Colo.; a nephew, Jonathan Goehring, Fort Collins; and his mother, Violet Goehring, Ashley.
Terry was preceded in death by his father, Ernest.
