Birth: Jun. 11, 1929 Lantry Dewey County South Dakota, USA Death: Jan. 21, 2014 Sturgis Meade County South Dakota, USA Alice Bonnet, 84, of Spearfish, SD, and formerly of Leola, SD, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at the Sturgis Regional Hospital in Sturgis, SD. Alice Liedle was born on June 11, 1929, in Lantry, SD, to Jacob and Marie (Heupel) Liedle. The family lived on a farm northeast of Leola and Alice attended school in Carl Township. On July 2, 1948, she married Julius Bonnet. The couple made their home on a farm east of Leola before moving to the John Hohmann farm in 1950, where they lived until 1987, when they moved to Leola. Alice worked as a teacher's aide for the Leola School District and also in various positions for Green Thumb until retirement. She was a life-long member of the St Paul's Lutheran Church in Leola. In 2007, she & Julius moved to Newell, SD, to be near their only remaining son, Terry, and his family. In September of 2013, they moved to Spearfish, SD, due to health reasons, where Alice resided until she passed. Alice enjoyed gardening and especially loved spending time with her four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Julius Bonnet; one son, Terry; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her sister Arlean Kussler; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons: Randy and Bruce; one daughter, Sharon; eight brothers; and three sisters.
