Birth: Oct. 9, 1922 Wishek McIntosh County North Dakota, USA Death: Jul. 8, 2000 Platte County Nebraska, USA Daughter of Philip & Rosina (Wolf) Bender. She graduated from high school in Wishek and then attended St. Alexius Nursing College in Bismarck where she received her RN degree. She moved to Columbus in the 1940's and was a RN at the Columbus Hospitals. While working at the hospital she met Glenn J. Ernst and on September 20, 1946 they were married. They settled on the family farm south west of Columbus. Lillian was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ where she had taught Sunday school. She also served as organist for the Church for many years. Lillian volunteered her time in many different ways. She helped with Meals on Wheels and enjoyed playing the piano at the area nursing homes. She loved music and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
