Dorothy Ann Meyer 87, of Cape Girardeau formerly of Fulton, passed away at Chateau Girardeau on November 14 2014. She was born July 21, 1927 in Kansas City Mo. the daughter of the late Everett McLaughlin and the late Ann(Hendershot) McLaughlin Dickson. On August 16 1947 Dorothy was united in marriage to Herbert Meyer. He preceded her in death on January 3, 2013. Dorothy was the Executive Director of the American Red Cross in Fulton. She also worked for the American Red Cross Blood Service Program and was a Water Safety Instructor for 30 years. She was a member of St Peter's Catholic Church where she was active in the Women's Auxiliary and served on the At Peter's School Advisory Board as President. At the age of 70 she swam in the Golden Age Olympics in Texas where she won a Bronze medal.
Dorothy will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three sons Matthew D. Meyer and wife Suzy of Leawood, Ks. Michael L. Meyer and wife Betty of Scott City and Mark V. Meyer and special friend, Donna Hudson of Fulton. two daughters Nancy S. Bledsoe and husband Jerry of Kelso and Peggy Brady and husband Mark of Fulton Everett McLaughlin and wife Pat of Raymore Mo. brother in law Ed Keith of Independence Mo. 15 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by one son, Mitchell Joseph Meyer and one daughter Christa Ann Meyer and sister Sharon Keith.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10a.m. on Tuesday November 18, 2014 at St Peter's Catholic Church in Fulton with Father Frank Bussmann officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7p.m. on Monday November 17, 2014 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with a Rosary Service at 7p.m. Interment will be held at St Peter's and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Boonville.
