Lorraine K. Well
Lorraine Well, age 90, of Pueblo, CO; formerly of Elgin, ND; passed from this life on August 15, 2008, on her 90th birthday in Pueblo, CO.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. MDT on Monday, August 25, 2008 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elgin with Reverend Wayne Rouse, officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. CDT on Monday at the North Dakota Veteran?s Cemetery south of Mandan, ND.
Serving as Pallbearers are Kristie Ehrhardt, Cassandra Linehan, Randy Fischer, Paul Kranich, James Theurer, and Dr. George Hsu.
LORRAINE DITTUS was born in Elgin, ND on August 15, 1918 to Adolph and Katherine (Bender) Dittus. She graduated from Elgin High School in 1935. She attended a business school and became the bookkeeper for her father and uncle?s Chevrolet dealership in Elgin. There she met Robert (Bob) Well. They were married October 16, 1941, just before Bob was shipped overseas. Upon his return they moved to a farm south of Heil. Three children were born to this union: James (Brenda) Well, Folsom, CA, Leota (Gene) Linehan, Oelrichs, SD, and Patsy (Daniel) Griffin, Pueblo, CO.
In 1954, the Well family moved to Elgin and Lorraine began working for Montana Dakota Utilities as a bookkeeper, and retired after 20 years of service. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
In 2007, Lorraine moved to live with her daughter in Pueblo, CO. She enjoyed crocheting, word search puzzles, game shows, eating out and watching the antics of the family cats and squirrels.
She is survived by her children; three grandchildren; Kristie (Mat) Ehrhardt, Casey Well and Cassandra Linehan; and three great-grandchildren; Colton and Cody Vocu and Zoie Ehrhardt. She is also survived by her sister, Martha Jacobs of Carson, ND; special niece, Katherine Jacobs of Carson, ND; brothers and sisters-in-law; Orin Well (Ramona), Kenneth Well (Fran), Willis Tuttle (Norma), Mae Well, Joan Well, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Milton Dittus.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the North Dakota Veteran?s Cemetery, 1825 46th Street, Mandan, North Dakota 58554.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00pm on Sunday, August 24, 2008 at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, 214 North Main Street, in Elgin, ND.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Imperial Funeral Home in Pueblo, CO and Evanson-Jensen in Elgin.
