Birth: Jul. 26, 1917 Death: Sep. 8, 2013 North Dakota, USA Leontina Bender entered into eternal peace on September 8, 2013 at Sanford St. Vincent's Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday September 12, 2013 at Bismarck Funeral Home. The family will greet guests one hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Fairview Cemetery following the service. Lee was born July 26, 1917, to Peter and Mary Weisz at Underwood, ND. She attended Underwood School and married Edwin Bender on May 23, 1937. They farmed in the Underwood and Washburn area and moved their family to Bismarck in 1959. Lee then went to work at the hospitals, first at Bismarck Hospital and retired from St. Alexius Hospital. Lee enjoyed reading and word find puzzles in her spare time. In their retirement years, Lee and Ed enjoyed camping and fishing trips with friends and family. Left to mourn her passing are her daughters and sons: Bev Anderson, Bismarck; Dar (Jim) Rezmer, Pingree; David Bender, Denver, CO; Rod (Dianne) Bender, Bismarck; and Jack Bender, Bismarck. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Tammy (Tim) Bohan, Sean Anderson, Troy (Chance) Bender, Cora Bender, Shannon Bender, Kevin (Lisa) Wagner, Kelly (Lesley) Wagner, and Cammy (Steve) Ost; 7 step-grandchildren: Cathy Nannenga, Deb Rostberg, Kevin O'Neil, August Feist, David Feist, Tom Feist, and Jerome Feist; 20 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Minon Bender, one sister-in-law, Jane Weisz, Roseburg, OR, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, in 1999, her son Robert in 2011, all of her siblings, Otto Weisz, Roland (Delayne) Weisz, Hulda Eman and Lavinia (William) Brewster and her parents. The family would like to thank the staff of PACE for their assistance to allow Mom to live in a home environment for 7 years longer, and would especially like to thank the St. Vincent's staff for the wonderful care in her final 3 months and Dr. Jackie Quizno for her many years of dedication and care.
