"Junior" McPherson Jr., 85, a former resident of Unity Plaza, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at Sunbridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Rockport, W.Va., on May 2, 1922, a son of the late Harry C. and Tenna Pfalzgraf McPherson. He was a 1941 graduate of Parkersburg High School. He worked most of his life as a farmer and was also employed by Farmer's Mutual. After retirement, he worked for South Parkersburg Kroger. He was a member of Rockport United Methodist Church and regularly attended the 14th Avenue Gospel Mission Church. He was also active in the St. Andrew's Charge. He was an active member of Gideon's of the South Parkersburg Camp and served as chaplain for several years. He was a 40-year member of the Farm Bureau. He is survived by a sister, Thelma Miller of Parkersburg; two brothers, Eugene McPherson of Parkersburg and Ted McPherson of Washington, W.Va.; a sister-in-law, Thelma McPherson; a brother-in-law, John Byrd; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Ralph McPherson; and two sisters, Alma Byrd and Sylesta McPherson. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Tim Burch and Pastor David Miller officiating. Burial will be at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
