Eleanor Dinyer

Eleanor Dinyer, 89, 305 Eighth St. N.W., Mandan, died Aug. 22, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with burial in Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a Catholic Daughters rosary will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, followed by a parish vigil at 7.
Eleanor Hoff was born April 7, 1908, in Nazareth, Texas. She was the daughter of Lee and Katherine (Gress) Hoff. Eleanor was raised and educated at Richardton and Bismarck, graduating from St. Mary's High School. She continued her education at St. Alexius School of Nursing, graduating in 1929. On July 20, 1931, she married George F. Dinyer in Texas. She and her husband purchased Homan Drug in Mandan which became Central Drug Store, and after 43 years of owning the drug store she started Judy's Hallmark in Mandan. She also owned Ben Franklin in Mandan.
She was a charter member of Apple Creek Country Club, a member of Revelers Dance Group, University of Mary President's Club, and Catholic Daughters of America.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. George R. and Mary, Bismarck; one daughter, Judith Lee Dinyer, Bismarck; eight grandchildren, Mary Catherine Russell, Tracey Lee Carrier, Judith Jane Erickson, Barbra Anne Russell, Hoy Sylvester Russell II, Natalya Sarah Russell, Laura Stephanie Dinyer and Garrett George Dinyer; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Hoff, Richardton, and Raymond Hoff, Missoula, Mont.; one sister, Regina Pfeifer, Mandan; and special friends, Don Borud and Linda Gangl.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George, who died March 28, 1974; one daughter, Mary Catherine; four brothers; and two sisters.
The family prefers memorials to University of Mary Nursing School.
