Shirley Jane Heitzmann was born July 4, 1931, in McClusky, N.D., the daughter of Herbert and Mary (Schick) Heitzmann. She attended college at Union College, Lincoln, Neb., and Minot (N.D.) State College where she received her teacher's certificate. She married Walter Miller on June 19, 1952, in McClusky. She was a school teacher and taught at Mercer, N.D., Jamestown and Streeter. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Streeter and Lehr, N.D., where she was a church pianist, Pathfinder leader, deaconess and children's ministries. She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Valerie (Kevin) Lehman, Cody, Wyo., Linda (Kimber) Hoffman, Berrien Springs, Mich., and Meritta (Scott) Schumacher, Napoleon, N.D.; a son, Lyle (Becky), Streeter; a sister, Elaine (Archie) Kreiter, Spencer, Iowa; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Rueben; and a sister-in-law, Doris Heitzmann. Services: 1 p.m. Sunday, Seventh-day Adventist Church, Lehr.
