Birth: Jan. 16, 1920 Wishek McIntosh County North Dakota, USA Death: Jul. 6, 2003 Wishek McIntosh County North Dakota, USA Wishek Star, Wishek, ND, Jul. 16, 2003 — Funeral services for Edwin Sayler, 83, Wishek, were held Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at Grace Lutheran Church, Lehr, with Rev. Lyle Klemz officiating. He died July 6 at Wishek Community Hospital. Edwin Sayler was born Jan. 16, 1920, near Wishek, the son of John and Magdalena (Bier) Sayler. He grew up in the Wishek area and received his education in rural McIntosh County schools. Edwin married Lydia Just on April 21, 1938 at St. James Lutheran Church, rural Wishek. The couple operated the family farm together for 23 years. In 1959, they moved to a farm 6 miles south of Lehr. In 1969, they moved into the city of Lehr, where Edwin worked as a carpenter until 1976. Edwin began working for Lehr Public School as a janitor until his retirement in 1985. Edwin was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He was known for his good humor and being happy and jolly all the time. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and family who will all greatly miss him. Survivors include his wife, Lydia, of Wishek; a son, James (Cyrstal) Sayler of Ellendale; five daughters, Della (Delmar) Schilling of Wishek, Vangie (Walter) Ketterling of Zeeland, Linda (Andy) Mosset of Wishek, Blanche (James) Nagel of Bismarck and Norma (Barry) Peterson of New England; three sisters, Lydia Knoll of Ashley, Frieda (David) Deyle of Billings, Mont., and Katie (Edward) Golz of Ashley; 13 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 8 step-great-grandchildren. Interment was in the Lehr City Cemetery.
