He was called home July 14, 2009, after fighting the good fight against cancer. Dale was born and raised in the Portland area and especially loved growing up in the Montavilla neighborhood where he loved to play basketball and met some of his lifelong friends. He spent a tour of duty with the U.S. Army and then went to school to become a computer operator. Dale loved all sports, gardening, fishing and walking along the beach. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Mary; daughter, Shari and son-in-law, Jim Ferguson; brother, Don and sister-in-law, Ellen De Lashmutt; sister-in-law, Jimmy De Lashmutt; stepsons, Rick, Scott, Ken and Duane; seven grandchildren; and other extended family members and friends. We want to give special thanks to our niece, Carrie Landon, and hospice for the love and care they gave Dale in his last days. He was taken much too quickly and will be missed very much until we see him again. Arrangements were provided by Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Services were held July 17, 2009, in Willamette National Cemetery.
