Mary Jane Davies Cummings, 84 of Weirton, WV passed away Thursday April 7, 2011 at home. She was born in Wheeling, WV on July 22, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Harry Wilson Smith and Clara Ullum Smith. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, William R. Davies on August 8, 1998 and her brother Harry W. Smith, Jr. Mary Jane was a member of Cove Presbyterian Church where she belonged to the Myrtle McHendry and Discovery Sunday School Classes, the Greater Weirton Senior Center, the Hancock County Retired School Employees, Life member of the West Virginia Congress of Parents and Teachers, Weirton Chapter No.147 O.E.S., AARP, & Three Score Seniors Club, and a volunteer for 21 years at Weirton Medical Center. She had also been active through the years as a Cub Scout leader, Job's Daughters treasurer, & Camp Fire leader. She was a graduate of West Liberty State College and had done post graduate studies at WVU. Mary Jane retired with 26 years of teaching at Weirton Heights Elementary and Liberty Elementary Schools. Surviving is her husband, John "Jack" A. Cummings, daughter, Susan Lee of Fogelsville, PA, sons, William Davies, Jr.(Tamara) of Phoenix, AZ and Bryan Davies of Turtle Lake, WI. Stepsons, Michael Cummings of Pueblo, CO and Mark Cummings(Jenny) of Weirton. Three grandchildren, six step grandchildren, and two step great grandchildren. Visitation will be at the Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, Inc., 380 Penco Road, Weirton on Sunday from 1-3 & 6-8 where the funeral service will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Terry Stoops and Dr. J.E. Rudiger as officiants. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
