Clapp Birth: Aug. 21, 1953 Butte Silver Bow County Montana, USA Death: May 24, 2007 Falls Church Fairfax County Virginia, USA Eugene Thomas Clapp died Thursday, May 24, 2007, in Falls Church, Va. Gene "G.T." was born in Butte on Aug. 21, 1953. The Clapp family belonged to St. Ann's Parish, where Gene attended grade school. In 1968, his father, Dr. Roger Clapp, a pediatrician in Butte from 1948 to 1968, moved to Swaziland, South Africa, with Cleo and their four youngest children. While there for two years, Gene attended St. Mark's School. The Clapps then moved to Arlington, Va., where Gene graduated from Washington-Lee High School. He then earned his engineering degree from George Mason University. For the past 15 years, Gene has been chief inspector for Metro Operations of Washington, D.C. Gene's love of Montana brought him and his family back for numerous visits. Gene married Debbie Farley. They would have celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary next August, just seven days after Gene's 54th birthday. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Roger Clapp, who died at the age of 59 in 1974, and Cleo McNulty Clapp, who died in 1988 at the age of 72. Gene is survived by Debbie and their three children, Eloise Cleo, age 15, Matthew Thomas, age 12, and Angelina Elizabeth, age 9; siblings and in-laws, Mack Clapp and Sandi Turk of Los Angeles, Mike and Sally Clapp of Kirkland, Wash., Cathe Clapp and Denis Keyes of Seattle, Meg and Dave Edwards of Snohomish, Wash., Betsy Clapp and Sunsed Roth of Rochester, Wash., Kristi and Randy Kendrick of Bothell, Wash.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, including Jamie Sullivan of Butte, Steve Sullivan of Missoula and Jerry Sullivan of Tacoma, Wash. Funeral services were held June 1 in Falls Church. Memorials may be made in Gene's name to his son's baseball organization that supports teams for multiple handicapped children at Coach Amy Hunt, Springfield Challengers Baseball, 7958 Bethelen Woods Lane, Springfield, VA 22153.
