March 22, 2008 NEW BAVARIA -- Ethel H. Aelker, 99, New Bavaria, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Vancrest Care Center, Holgate. She was born Dec. 14, 1908, in Leipsic, the daughter of William and Mary (Zenz) Seimet. In 1933, she married Lawrence Aelker, who died in 1979. She was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Bavaria, and its Rosary Altar Society. She served as member and past president of Catholic Ladies of Columbia. Surviving are a son, Larry (Janet), New Bavaria; a daughter, Thelma (Robert) Williams, Lima; and 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, a great-great grandchild, seven great-stepgrandchildren and four great-great-stepgrandchildren. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Claude and Eugene Seimet; and a sister, Thelma Seimet. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria, with Father Stephen Stanbery officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Snyder Funeral Home, Holgate, is handling arrangements. Preferred memorials are to a charity of the donor's choice.
