OBITUARY: Marie M. Kahrig Brooks MANTUA, Ohio - Marie M. Kahrig Brooks, 91, of Mantua (formerly of Lewisville, Ohio) died Wednesday (April 6, 2005) at the Aurora Manor, Aurora, Ohio. She was born at Lewisville, Ohio, on March 26, 1914, a daughter of the late Philip William and Louisa Pfalzgraf Kahrig. She was a homemaker and retired from the Mantuline Rubber Co. in Mantua. After retirement she loved to piece quilts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh L. Brooks, in August 1976; one daughter, Rosetta Freilino; one son, George William Brooks; two sisters, Sophia Reischman and Pauline Christman; and five brothers, Alfred, George, Edwin, Lawrence, and Benjamin Kahrig. Surviving are two daughter, Kathryn Shanholtzer of Aurora, Ohio, and Virginia Putt of Ravenna, Ohio; three sons, Philip C. Brooks of Brookville, Ohio, Frederick R. Brooks of Mantua, and Kenneth H. Brooks of Hiram, Ohio; one sister, Minnie Walters of Marietta; one brother, Homer Kahrig of Salesville, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (April 16) at the Middle Church Cemetery near Lewisville, Ohio. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Middle Church Cemetery Association, in care of Rodney Kahrig, 50381 Northern Road, Lewisville, Ohio 43754.
