Bio: Leroy Goehring went to his heavenly home Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society in Tripp, SD at the age of 86. Funeral service will be Saturday, July 30 at 10:00 am at Friedens Reformed Church in Tripp. Visitation will be Friday, July 29 from 5 to 7 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Friedens Reformed Church in Tripp.Leroy Goehring was born May 8, 1930 in Hosmer, SD, to Reinhold and Lydia (Pressler) Goehring Sr. At the age of four, he moved with his parents to the family farm near Delmont, SD. He attended Country school until the 6th grade then continued his education at Armour High School. Leroy served in the United States Army from February 1, 1956 and was honorably discharged on January 14, 1958. After his service, Leroy farmed with his father and brother Reiny on the family farm.On November 24, 1964, LeRoy married Violet Helen Merkwan in Tabor, SD. They purchased a farm four miles north of Delmont where they raised their children, farmed, and raised cattle, sheep, and hogs until LeRoy retired in 2004. After retirement, Leroy enjoyed watching the news, westerns, and many game shows, particularly The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. He enjoyed spending time with his family; rocking and humming songs to his grandchildren. Leroy died on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society in Tripp, SD at the age of 86.Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Violet Goehring, his children, Lori Hoesing of Maskell, NE, Tony Goehring of Delmont, SD, Gregory Goehring of Tuscon, AZ, Richard Goehring of Indianapolis, IN, Robert Goehring of Mitchell, SD, Karen Goehring of Sioux Falls, SD, Timothy (Kimberly) Goehring of Hartford, SD, his sisters, Lucilla Dewald, Laverna Simpfenderfer, Arvilla Reich, and brother, Jerald (Donna) Goehring, his sister-in law, Carol Goehring, his grandchildren, Rachel Hoesing, Lindsey Hoesing, Andrew Hoesing, Matthew Hoesing, Megan Goehring, Olivia Goehring, Jackson Goehring, Lillian Goehring, Jonathan Goehring, Benjamin Goehring and one great-grandchild, Maci Wudel.LeRoy is preceded in death by his infant twin daughters, Mary Lou and Katherine Lee, his parents, his brother, Reinhold Goehring Jr. and his sister-in law, Barbara Goehring.
