His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Family Worship Center Foursquare Church in Watertown. The Rev. Jim Knudsen will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery at Watertown. Crawford Funeral Chapel of Watertown is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and prior to the service Tuesday at the church. Martin Bitz was born July 14, 1957, to Henry and Gertrude (Bender) Bitz at Eureka. He attended school in Eureka and graduated in 1976. He attended Lake Area Technical School in Watertown and graduated in 1978 from the automotive mechanics program. He married Marlene Tulowetzke on Sept. 16, 1978, at Watertown. He worked for Gray Construction and for the last 22 years was employed by Padgett Sales. He was a member of the Family Worship Center Foursquare Church. He enjoyed working on cars, especially on transmissions. He also liked stock car racing. Survivors include his wife of Watertown; one son, Martin Bitz Jr. of Watertown; one daughter, Jennie Bitz of Watertown; his mother of Aberdeen; four brothers, Wilmar Bitz of Ames, Iowa, Elmer Bitz of Aberdeen, Gerold Bitz of Gwinner, N.D., and Albert Bitz of Stratford, Iowa; six sisters, Angie Haak of Sioux Falls, Mary Albertson of Cogswell, N.D., Judy Hoffman of Lexington, N.C., Janet Borchard and Barbara Bitz, both of Aberdeen, and Susie Gehring of Las Vegas. He was preceded in death by his father and two sisters.
