Milton L Schumacher Birth: Apr. 14, 1927 Eureka McPherson County South Dakota, USA Death: May 10, 2006 Eureka McPherson County South Dakota, USA Eureka - Funeral service for Milton L. Schumacher, 79, of Eureka will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 15, 2006, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ at Eureka. The Rev. Dianne Rood-Kiesz will officiate. Burial will be in the Eureka City Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6-8 p.m. with the family present at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service at the church. He died May 10, 2006, at Avera Eureka Community Hospital. Milton L. Schumacher, son of John and Katherina (Jundt) Schumacher was born April 14, 1927, east of Eureka on the family homestead. He attended country school and worked on the family farm. He was united in marriage to Leona Mohr on November 16, 1947, in a Lutheran Church, rural Hosmer. They made their home on the family farm where they raised small grains and livestock. He enjoyed his cattle and raising flax. They retired in 2000, but remained on the farm. Milton enjoyed farming, fishing and playing cards with his family and friends. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Leona of Eureka; one daughter, Sharon (Keith) Kunz of Eureka; two sisters, his twin, Lillian (Allen) Schnabel of Fort Collins, Colo., and Esther Bertsch of Albuquerque, N.M. His parents, one brother, Art, and one infant sister, Irene, preceded him in death. Casketbearers will be Robert Maisch, Stanley Schnabel, Leo Vilhauer, David Roggenkamp, Ken Kunz and Duane Bertsch. The organist will be Willis Kiesz and special music will be provided by Rev. Dianne and Willis Kiesz. Carlsen Funeral Home of Eureka have been entrusted with arrangements.
