Smith, 77, of 310 Eastern Avenue, Woodsfield, died the evening of Feb. 27 at the Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, WV. He was born April 4, 1915 in Woodsfield, a son of the late W.B. Smith and Estella Schumacher Smith. He was a former owner and operator of Smith Dry Cleaning, a former clerk of the Village of Woodsfield and a former County Auditor of Monroe County. He was a member of the St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Woodsfield and also the Masonic Lodge of Woodsfield. He is survived by his wife, Doris Christman Smith of Woodsfield; one son, Tom Smith of Woodsfield; two brothers, Lloyd P. Smith and William E. Smith, both of Woodsfield; one sister, Mrs. Richard (Hazel) Brophy of Columbus; one grandson, Steven Smith of Newark; one niece and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hilda Hamilton Smith. Friends were received March 1 at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, Woodsfield where services were held at 1 p.m. March 2 with Rev. Michael Dowd officiating. Burial followed in Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield.
