Arthur J. Meidinger
The funeral for Arthur J. Meidinger, Wishek, ND formerly of Zeeland, ND will be Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the United Church of Christ Church, Wishek, ND. Visitation will be Tuesday from noon to 7:00 PM with a prayer at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek, ND. Burial will be at the New Kassel Reformed Cemetery rural Zeeland, ND.
Arthur J. Meidinger, the youngest child of John R. and Lydia (Meidinger) Meidinger, was born September 27, 1926. He was raised on the family homestead 12 miles north of Zeeland, ND. Art attended country school and graduated from Zeeland High School in 1945. He attended State Normal and Industrial College at Ellendale, ND and then taught country school in the Strasburg District for one year. On August 1, 1948 Art married Violet Ketterling at St. Andrews Lutheran Church rural Zeeland, ND. Art and Violet lived on the family homestead for 7 years and in 1955 they built a new farmstead one mile west of the homestead. Art served on the Country School Board of Frieda District. He was a partner of the Herreid, SD livestock sales barn for several years. During his farming years Art raised Angus cattle, grew grain crops and managed a small feedlot operation. For many years he served as custodian of the rural New Kassel Reformed Church and Cemetery.
Art died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at his home in Wishek, ND under the care of Prairieview Hospice. He was 86 years old.
Art is survived by his wife, Violet, Wishek, ND; four daughters, Janice (Lyle) Reiner, Burnsville, MN, Carol Snyder (Bruce Cariveau), Fargo, ND, Lois Gad, Minneapolis, MN, and Marsha (Terry) Rath, Wishek, ND; five grandchildren, Jason (Kellie) Reiner, Rosemount, MN, Greg (Heather) Reiner, Burnsville, MN, Scott Snyder, Fargo, ND, Mindy Rath (Dan Graulty), Bismarck, ND and Patrick Rath, Bismarck, ND; two great grandchildren, Kyra Reiner and Marissa Reiner; and one sister, Meda Heupel, Eureka, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Rueben, Aaron, Isadore, and Otto, and five sisters, Othelia, Adeline, Eva, Frieda, and Loretta.
