Rose, 90, of Hornick went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holly Springs Bible Fellowship Church in rural Holly Springs, Iowa, with the Rev. Jim Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Willow Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a short prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service at Onawa, Iowa. Barbara Margaret Madison was born Dec. 30, 1918, in Randolph, Iowa, the daughter of Todd E. and Minnie R. (Rickabaugh) Madison. The family moved to Hornick, where she was raised and graduated from Hornick High School. Barbara and Marvin E. Rose were united in marriage Dec. 30, 1938, in Hornick and made their home in the Hornick area. Marvin passed away Aug. 24, 1974. Barbara was an active member of Holly Springs Bible Fellowship Church and was always willing to help with Vacation Bible School or wherever needed. She also was a member of the Church of Christ Ladies Aid and helped with meals at the Senior Citizens for several years. Barbara enjoyed gardening and quilting, but most of all, she was known as a loving mother and grandmother, who loved baking and cooking for her family. Survivors include three sons and their wives, Charles F. and Paula Rose, Earl M. and Liz Rose, all of Hornick, and David D. and Kathy Rose of Rapid City, S.D.; two daughters-in-law, Nancy Rose of Moville, Iowa, and Betty Deardoff of Omaha; a brother and his wife, Dick and Rusty Madison of Ocala, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, M. Allen and Glen E. Rose; a grandson, Doug Rose; three infant grandsons; three brothers, Ralph, George and Donald; and two sisters, Flora Heaton and Phyllis Mulvihill.
