BOB STIMPERT, 65, of Shiloh, died unexpectedly Monday, October 15, 2012 at Med Central Mansfield.
Born December 24, 1946 in Ashland, Ohio, he was the son of Edwin and Doris (Seymour) Stimpert. A veteran of the United States Army, he retired from AK Steel after 33 years of service. Following his retirement, he served as the Director of Regional Manufacturing Coalition and had also worked for Ashland University as an Entrepreneur Program Mentor and at the Small Business and Development Center, Braintree and Score. He was honored by the regional Manufacturing Coalition by having a scholarship named in his honor ~ Robert Stimpert RMC Scholarship through the North Central State College Endowment, and also honored on July 20, 2012 which was named Robert Stimpert Day in Richland County for his efforts in developing manufacturing growth. In 2011, the Richland County Chamber of Commerce awarded him the Excellence in Leadership Award. Bob was a big promoter of young individuals entering the manufacturing field. Bob was active at the Faith United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing, farming and spending time with his family. He coached Little League Softball and Baseball and also assisted at Crestview High School with the softball and baseball teams.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Pamela (Buren) Stimpert; two daughters, Stacy Betts and her children, Damien, Alex, Nathan and Emma and Amy (Jason) Bright and their children, Andrew, Daniel and Lindsey; a son, David (Allison) Stimpert; his mother-in-law, Mildred Laurent; an uncle, Larry (Patricia) Stimpert; an aunt, Mary Miller; a sister-in-law, Jill Ackerman; brothers-in-law, Michael Buren, Keith Buren and Bruce Buren; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Avenue, Ashland. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2012 at Faith United Methodist Church conducted by Pastor Michael Mack. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith United Methodist Church, 1574 State Route 96 East, Ashland, Ohio 44805 or the Robert Stimpert RMC Scholarship in care of North Central State College.
