HEFNER - James Edward Hefner aged 54 of Belding formerly of Lowell was called home to heaven on October 13 2008. He was born June 18 1954 in Rochester New York to Bernice and Floyd Hefner. He was preceded in death by his father Floyd Hefner uncle Tom Ford father-in-law and best friend Donald Heiman. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 27 years Deborah (Heiman); his children Heidi Hefner and fianc Roi Hardiman of Grand Rapids; sons James Hefner Jr. of Grand Rapids David (Kayla) Hefner of Belding and Neil Hefner of Iowa; grandchildren Sean Redding and Caleb Hardiman of Grand Rapids Jayden and Kiana Hefner of Iowa. He was also looking forward to the December birth of granddaughter Cora Hefner; mother and step-father Bernice and Ken Louisa of Ft. Pierce Florida; sisters Maureen Hefner of Ft. Pierce FL Beverly (Alan) Kenyon of Gallatin TN; brothers Richard Hefner of Waynesboro GA Paul (Tammy) Hefner of New York Jeffery Hefner of Ft. Pierce FL Daniel (Doris) Hefner of New York Michael (Lisa) Hefner of CT; mother-in-law Cora Heiman of Ada; brother-in-law Michael (Shirley) Heiman of Ada; sister-in-law Alice Harris of White Cloud; many nieces and nephews. Jim served 4 years as a Seabee in the Navy after high school then 7 years in the army. During his military service he was stationed in many places including Vietnam and the Philippines along with many stateside posts. He met his wife Debbie during his assignment at Ft. Campbell KY and married her while serving in Germany. After returning from Germany he was stationed at Ft. Polk LA in the Military Police as stockade supervisor. Jim also joined the New Llano LA volunteer fire department. After the military he worked several jobs including local and over the road tractor trailer driver. He was most proud of his job with the Metro Enforcement Security in Nashville TN where he quickly worked his way to major. Funeral arrangements will be 10 a.m. October 16th at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church 10305 Bluewater Hwy Lowell with Pastor Joe Fremer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Spectrum Heath Hospice.
