Blodgett, 79, of Yates City passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, IL. He was born in Lee Center, Ill., on Dec. 15, 1933, to Herbert and Loretta Blodgett. He married Sally A. Brennan on Aug. 30, 1953, in London Mills. She preceded him in death. He later married Elsie Criner on April 10, 2004, in Farmington. She survives. Also surviving are his five children, Randy (Valerie) Blodgett of Yates City, Mike (Cindy) Blodgett of Brimfield, Jeff (Aysen) Blodgett of Bloomington, Kathy (Dan) Kiesewetter of Farmington and Lora (Kevin) Ramp of Yates City; seven grandchildren, Michelle, Anthony (Rachel), Shannon, Andrew, Spencer, Emily and Gracia; four great-grandchildren, Camden, Mason, Lexi and Braden; one sister, Barbie (Mike) Pearson; and one brother, Harold (Shirley) Blodgett. Rod is also survived by Elsie's family; her children, Suzie (Bill) Brooks, Deb (Keith) Butterfield and Sherrie (Jay) Himegarner; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother Mary Alice, who helped raise him; and two sisters. Following graduation from Yates City High School in 1952, Rod served his country in the United States Army. He retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 1996, after 43 years of service. He served as Salem Township supervisor from 1985 to the present and volunteered with the Elba-Salem Fire Department for 36 years. Rod enjoyed his dogs, camping, fishing and Saturday morning breakfast with his longtime friend, Gene Arnold. He was a 50-year member of the Yates City Masonic Lodge 448 and the Maquon Masonic Lodge 530. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial, with military honors, will be at Yates City Cemetery.
