Birth: 1918 Hartford Washington County Wisconsin, USA Death: Jun. 9, 2014 Eugenia Van Ark (nee Gehl) longtime Hartford resident passed away Monday, June 9, 2014 at the age of 96. She was born and raised in Hartford the daughter of William Gehl and Hedwig Kress Gehl. She graduated from Hartford High School and the earned her B.S. Degree from Marquette University in 1941. She worked for many years as a Medical Technologist at various hospitals in Milwaukee County and at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hartford finishing this phase of her career at Wisconsin Electric. For the remainder of her working career she owned and operated the longtime family business P.L. Gehl Monument Company located in Hartford. An avid knitter and extensive traveler, Eugenia enjoyed numerous trips to Europe. She was the beloved mother of the late Peter (Kathleen) Van Ark and loving grandmother of Kristin Van Ark, Jeffrey (Doreen) Van Ark and Kathryn (Andrew) Matott. Further survived by her great grandchildren Kali, Kaden, Jaiden, Kane and Samantha, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Gretchen Rudersdorf #106918571 (Also buried in St. Kilian Cemetery). A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at St. Charles Catholic Church 313 Circle Drive, Hartland. Friends may call at the church from 12:00 (NOON) until the time of the Mass. Final rest will be in St. Killian's Cemetery, Hartford. If desired memorials may be given to the B.E.S.T. Scholarship Trust, a community based scholarship fund for Hartford students.
