Birth: Jan. 1, 1865 Addison Washington County Wisconsin, USA Death: 1948 Rites Today for Mr. Speeter, 83 Funeral services are being held this (Thursday) morning for Edward J. Speeter Sr., 223 So. 11th Ave. who died Sunday at 6:20 a.m. at his residence. Mr. Speeter, a retired farmer, moved to this city from Slinger four years ago. He had been ailing for several years. Rites are being held at 8:45 at the Schmidt Funeral home and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mathias church, Nabob. The Rev. Andrew Redig is celebrant, the Rev. Leo Skalitsky, deacon and the Rev. Leo Belda sub-deacon. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The deceased was born Jan. 1, 1865, in the town of Addison. He grew up there, living on a farm until 1925. He was married to Anna Mechenich on May 20, 1902, in St. Anthony's church, Addison. In 1925 they moved to Slinger and four years ago came to West Bend. Surviving are his widow and four children, Edward, Milwaukee; John, Los Altos, Calif.; Clo (Mrs. Ervin Kaehny), West Bend; Armella (Mrs. Carl Christianson) of Milwaukee. Two children died in infancy, a son Joseph was killed in World War I, and a daughter, Elizabeth, died in 1920. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Two sisters and four brothers predeceased him. Mr. Speeter was a member of the Holy Name society of St. Mathias church, Nabob.
