Mettler, age 85, of Menno, SD died Monday, February 5, 2007 at the Menno Olivet Care Center, Menno, SD. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2007, at Zion Reformed Church, Menno, SD with Rev. Scott Henry officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion Reformed Cemetery, rural Menno. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at Aisenbrey-Kostel Funeral Home, Menno, SD with the family present from 7-8 p.m. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday at the church. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Jerke, Shawn Jerke, Dustin Fischer, Derek Fischer, Jarrad Mettler and Jeremy Mettler. Lillian Luella Mettler was born December 29, 1921, to Art and Albina (Edelman) Guthmiller in Yankton County, SD. She was raised on the family farm Southeast of Menno. Lillian attended grade school at the Bender School District #81 Country School and was confirmed at the Salem Reformed Church with Rev. Bodenman. She married Gideon C. Mettler on May 5, 1940, at the Saron Reformed Church Southeast of Menno. Lillian worked on the farm, loved music and was also very helpful in putting together the Menno History Book. She worked at the nursing home, Edelman's Grocery Store and was a member of the Menno Museum Historical Society. She loved gardening and flowers. Thankful for having shared in Lillian's life are her sons: Barry Mettler of Menno, SD and Scott Mettler of Harrison, SD; daughters: Dorothy Mettler of Corsica, SD and Cindy (Mrs. Tom) Fischer of Menno, SD; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Alvina Rempfer of Yankton, SD. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Dale Mettler; daughter, Joyce Ulmer and 3 brothers: Walter, Joe and Elmer Guthmiller.
