She was the last child born to Charles L. Ferner and Anna Maria "Mary" (Wirges) Ferner. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Saint Louis, where they settled in permanently. In her early adulthood, Julia was a seamstress and embroiderer. In her later years, she was a telephone operator. Julia never married. She died on 15 March 1966, in Saint Louis, and was buried in Calvary Cemetery and Mausoleum on 17 March 1966. She was 84 years, 9 months and 13 days old at the time of her death.
