Bio: Dorothy Glasser, 84, passed away peacefully of natural causes on April 8, 2015, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Bismarck, with Monsignor Gene Lindemann officiating. Burial will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a rosary service at 7 p.m., at Bismarck Funeral Home and visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.Dorothy was born May 26, 1930, to John and Eva (Zerr) Vogel. Her father passed away in 1931 and her mother married Joseph Fleck, who farmed in the St. Anthony area. On Jan. 16, 1951, Dorothy married Frank Glasser, and they proceeded to make their life together in Bismarck. They celebrated 63 years of marriage, before Frank passed away on Feb. 10, 2014.Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Besides being a homemaker, she worked many years outside of the home. Dorothy worked at local bakeries, as an Avon sales representative and as a cook at Bismarck High School and the Early Childhood Learning Center. She did this work during and after helping her husband run the family business, Glasser Concrete Construction. Dorothy retired in 1990.Dorothy was a dedicated Catholic. She was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Bismarck and was very active member in church activities. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, and she volunteered whenever she could. Well-done, Dorothy!Dorothy?s greatest love was her family and friends. She had an ongoing goal to make everyone she met feel like family. She exemplified this in her own family, especially with her grandchildren by cooking with them, talking with them and sharing her stories with them. One of her favorite things was preparing and hosting family suppers. More often than not, laughter would be the main course, as family members would share their stories of growing up in the Glasser household. Dorothy?s love and unconditional acceptance inspired all of those she knew and made them feel special for who they were. We thank her for this decision to love, for she has changed all of us by this love.Dorothy will be greatly missed by her children, Dennis (Hye), Huntsville, Ala., Roger, Ray (Sue), Renee (Denny) Schwab, Donald, Charles (Mary) and Erick (Laura), all of Bismarck, Pamela, Mandan, Frank Jr., Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Barbara, Tulsa, Okla.; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Adam Fleck, Mandan, and Joseph Fleck Jr., Arizona.Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a younger brother; and one of her children, Cynthia, who passed at six weeks old.In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Mary?s Parish Family Church, Bismarck.Those wishing to sign the online register book or leave a message of condolence please go to www.bismarckfuneralhome.com.Bismarck Tribune April 9, 2015
