Alma (Mike) (Limpert) Drake Posted 2010-10-01 by Pat R :: Yuma (AZ) Sun Friday, October 1, 2010 Formerly of Yuma and Payson, AZ, Alma "Mike" Drake died on Monday, September 27, 2010 of complications from cancer. She was born April 27, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA. Mike moved to Arizona in the late 40's during the heyday of the western guest ranch as a vacation venue, working at Remuda Ranch in Wickenburg, AZ. There, she met Dan Drake who worked at a neighboring ranch, and they married in 1952. Dan predeceased Mike in February 2009. They were married for nearly 57 years. During her 40 years in Yuma, Mike worked at St Francis Church and was active on the Parish Council. Mike also worked in the citrus industry and at Sun Valley Beverage Co., and spent many years as a volunteer in the Yuma Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. Upon retirement, Mike moved to Payson, where she put in many hours as a volunteer for the Mogollon Health Alliance Auxiliary. Mike is survived by her daughters, Rita Drake of Phoenix, AZ and Mary Kay Drake of Las Vegas, NV; two grandchildren, Tyson Rhodes and Terry Suntken Ayers; and three great grandchildren, Brenden and Bryce Ayers, and Scarlett Rhodes. The funeral liturgy was held at SS Simon & Jude Cathedral in Phoenix, AZ, officiated by long-time friend Monsignor Richard Moyer.
