  John Theobold Deibel?s father was a French Protestant who fled from the Alsace-Lorraine area of France into Switzerland during one of the religious uprisings of that country with only a knapsack of his belongings. He later entered Germany where he acquired an Inn. He married Anna Elizabeth Hach. John Theobold, the eldest son, became a minister of the Evangelical Church. Upon his father's death, he had to take charge of the estate and did not continue in the ministery. The Inn made and sold wines and whiskeys, bought and sold a wide variety of things, and kept travelers. He had a rule of never selling alcoholic drinks to anyone who was becoming intoxicated and never selling drinks on Sunday. The Inn was at RIESCHWEILER BEI ZWEIBRÜCKEN.
